Car & Crew Elegibility
Everyone is welcome to participate in the Great Endeavour Rally. It is a truly unique event with truly unique people driving very "unique" vehicles. The only prerequisite is that each person intending to drive must hold a valid drivers licence.
Each vehicle must have at least two people (a driver and a navigator) and up to the legal seating capacity of your chosen car.
There is no restriction on age or type of car, so long as it is legally road registered and carries the compulsory equipment as set out below. Bonus points and incentives are there to encourage the old, the bold, the weird and wonderful.
COMPULSORY EQUIPMENT:
- A speedo or tripmeter that reads to at least one tenth of a kilometre.
- Fire Extinguisher. Easily accessible and firmly mounted.
- A minimum of 5ltr of drinking water for each crew member.
- A Snatchem Strap. (Not tow rope or chain)
- Mud Flaps of stout material for each driving wheel. (Mud flaps must be at least 100mm off ground when vehicle fully loaded).
- 20ltr legal fuel container. Must be full at the beginning of each day.
- UHF radio. Fitted and in working order.
- An orange rotating light on the roof of the vehicle for use in dusty conditions. Must be unobstructed and easily visible from the rear. (Red, Green, Blue are not allowed).
- Sleeping gear for each crew member.
- Seat belts must be fitted to the vehicle for each crew member and worn at all times. Full harness seat belts are highly recommended.
- A securely mounted front and rear towing point.
- A centrally mounted Haymen Reece type towing point for the front of the vehicle. The tongue & tow ball may be stored in the boot.*
- A blue triangle locating the battery position. (Approx 50mm)*
- First Aid Kit.
- Two reflective triangles.
- De-ditching shovel. Safely stored.
- Laminated windscreen.
- Rear facing car number, at least 4 inches high. Black on white or white on black. Must be on the right hand side and easily visible.
- Forward facing car number. White numbers on the passenger side of the windscreen.
- A space of at least 800mm X 450mm must be kept clear on each front door or an area approved by the organisers, for the official door signs.
- A HEMA Australian Road Atlas.
- A 4 point roll cage. Six point is recommended. *
- A Queensland Transport modification plate must be fitted for any major modifications to the vehicle. Eg. roll cage, seats and seat belts. For more information, contact your nearest Department of Transport office.
